Brew Pub Adventures in Frederick County Maryland

We had a lovely Memorial Day weekend in Frederick County Maryland, enjoying brews and great company with best friends. We enjoyed flights of ale at a few establishments over the course of the weekend. Our brew stops were as follows: Idiom Brewing Co. on 340 E. Patrick Street, #104, Frederick, MD; Olde Mother Brewing Co. at 526 N. Market St., Frederick, MD 21701; and Milkhouse Brewery 8253 Dollyhyde Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771. Each of our stops had a slightly different feel, but all of built on the conversations with friends. Craft brew pubs seem to bring out that kinship. While at Idiom we enjoyed the  Banh Mi and Truffle Fries from the Gambrill Mt Food Truck that was parked outside.

Idiom’s selection of ales included a Kolsch, an ESB, a American Porter, and a Fruited Sour. All of the ales we tasted were quite drinkable. They also had a few variations of New England IPA on tap on that day, but not these were not the styles we were interested in.

Olde Mother’s selection included an Old Ale, a Kentucky Common, a Table Beer, an American Porter, a Hefeweizen, and a Cream Ale. The ales were a little more variable here, but overall it was well worth the walk from Idiom to get there.

We made our way the Milkhouse on Sunday afternoon following church. Unlike Idiom and Olde Mother which are in the center of Frederick; Milkhouse is on a farm setting in the heart of Frederick County. It was a beautiful afternoon to enjoy tasting ales. Milkhouse’s selection included a Pale Ale, a Saison, a couple of Fruit Beers, an Irish Red, and a couple of Biere de Gardes. The ales were again enjoyed with food and great conversations. Milkhouse also offers a good selection of very drinkable craft brews.

I encourage you all to check out these craft breweries. They are well worth your while.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend. Good food, Good Ales and Great friends! What else could you ask for?
